Distributing the grafted cashew seedlings to the farmers, Mr Samuel Kena, the District Chief Executive (DCE), said the distribution is being done in eight nursery sites at Kwaekese, Supon, Abomosarefo, Kayera, Amankwa Tornu, Abotanso and Adukrom.
He said the distribution forms part of the government's 10- year cashew development plan that is geared towards increasing cashew production in the country for export and also to serve as raw materials for industrialization.
Mr Kena said government attaches seriousness to agriculture, hence his intervention to ensure the agricultural sector gets the needed boost.
He said the distribution would not only end there but the beneficiary farmers would be supported technically by the district's agricultural field officers to ensure successful cashew production in the district.
He said plans are underway to create more of the nursery sites in other communities to ensure that they are closer to the farmers.
Mr Kena said the assembly, through the programme, has engaged 100 youth at the nursery sites to see to its maintenance.
The DCE urged farmers in the area to take advantage of the various agricultural interventions and incentives to increase production and improve their livelihoods.
Mr Kena urged the beneficiary farmers not to hesitate to contact his office for any assistance, should the need arise.

Mr Appiah Ameyaw, who spoke on behalf of the farmers, expressed their gratitude to government for the initiative and promised to work very hard to increase cashew production in the district.
