[Cote d'Ivoire]: Tax boost for cashew processing companies in Ivory Coast

July 04, 2019

To speed up the process of processing cashews and increase value-added in Côte d'Ivoire, the government yesterday decided in the Council of Ministers to exempt operators in the sector of customs duties and VAT on the equipment and spare parts acquired as part of the investment and, on the other hand, to grant a tax credit to companies that develop and modernize their existing facilities.

Eligible operators will benefit from these exemptions for five years.

"This measure is part of the reform of cotton and cashew nut sectors initiated by the Government to boost the local processing of cashew nuts and increase their added value." It is part of all measures introduced since 2014 to achieve the annual target of local processing of at least 50% of cashew nut production compared to about 10% currently, "says the ordinance.
