For his part, ACPC funding expert Arthur Coulibaly pointed out that Window A will allocate 50% of the cost of eligible investments to strengthen guarantees for the financing of projects to upgrade plant transformation technology. cashew and construction of new cashew storage facilities; Box B grants are made for the rehabilitation of small warehouses and the provision of services; Subsidies of 80% of the investment cost eligible for the realization of micro-projects will be granted by the counter.
Regarding the next steps, the coordinator of the PPCA, Dr Adama Coulibaly indicated that a national call for projects will be launched Monday, June 17 and that the withdrawal of applications will begin Friday, June 21, including in the regional directorates of the Ministry of agriculture and rural development (MINADER) of the nineteen cashew production regions, and at the headquarters of the Cotton and Cashew Council in Abidjan.
It also invited women and young micro-project holders, cashew producer cooperatives and cashew industry and warehouse operators to submit projects and actively participate in their implementation. He also urged the banking and financial sector to become heavily involved in the implementation of these sub-projects.
Côte d'Ivoire is the largest producer of raw cashew nuts in the world, with production of 761,317 t in 2018, or nearly 24% of world cashew production. However, since the local processing rate of cashews is less than 10%, most of the national production is exported in raw form to Asian countries, according to reports.
