According to Aténi Atchadé, president of the cashew industry (Ifa), the cashew and shea sectors are "a very sensitive sector for the economic development of the country". According to Mr. Atchadé, they are more than 200 000 producers to live directly products and activities "in connection with cashew and shea". It is therefore with the aim of finding solutions to the numerous difficulties experienced by these sectors that Ifa and industry players with the support of PtFs, have thought of an association with decision-makers.
"The launching of the advocacy and dialogue campaign is a prayer of the faithful to the State considered in this case as the God," he said.
For this campaign, stakeholders in the cashew and shea sectors have put together a document that presents "the views of civil society and the main actors of the sector on the content and implementation of state policies".
Taking into account this document will allow the development of these two sectors.
According to Harry van Dijk, the Ambassador of the Netherlands to Benin, the government must dialogue with the social partners since for him a negotiation implies taking into account the expectations of the different parties. The Ambassador of the Netherlands to Benin adds that these are sectors that create jobs especially for women in rural areas.
As for Philias Patinvoh, the cabinet minister of the Ministry of Commerce, he reassured stakeholders in the sector regarding inclusive actions. He did not fail to recall the wishes of the government for these sectors to contribute to the economic development of Benin.
