In the presence of the exporters, processors, producers and buyers, the mechanism of the cost-sharing subsidies (Scp) of the project to promote the competitiveness of the cashew value chain (Ppca) was launched (yesterday) in Cocody by Dr. Adama Coulibaly, its coordinator. He is also the Director General of the Cashew Cotton Council.

The project aims to increase the productivity, quality and value-added of cashew for the benefit of smallholders and the local processing industry, Dr Adama Coulibaly told the press.

The mechanism of the cost-sharing grants for the benefit of project promoters to value the cashew nut is divided into three components. It is an institutional support and governance of the cashew value chain, improved productivity and market access. The last component is related to support for private sector development and investment in cashew processing.

In launching this project, the government's goal is clear. For Côte d'Ivoire, the world's largest producer with 716,317 tonnes (nearly 24% of world production), it is to raise its transformation rate, which is below 10%. As part of this project, from June 17, 2019, a call for projects will be launched to financially support the project holders. The start of the withdrawal of applications is scheduled for the 21st of the same month.

Seizing the opportunity, the Director General of the Cashew Cotton Council invited cashew producer cooperatives, industry players, warehouse operators, women and young micro-project holders to take an active part in this project.

To the banks, the head of the cotton cashew council reminded them that they must now "have confidence in the cashew sector".Because, he believes, this one, with its remarkable performances, presents the signs of a reassuring future.
