The Council of Ministers met on Wednesday 31 July 2019 under the presidency of the Head of State, President Patrice TALON. Several decisions were taken during the session including the transmission to the National Assembly for authorization of ratification of the loan agreement signed with the African Development Fund. This loan agreement is part of the financing of the Project to Support the Development of the Cashew Nut and Agricultural Entrepreneurship (PADEFA-ENA). With an amount of 5,671,001,680 FCFA, this project will inevitably contribute to the reduction of poverty through the improvement of food and nutritional security.

The cashew sector is one of the high-value added value chains promoted in the Government's Action Program because of its strong capacity to contribute to job and income generation, its contribution food and nutrition security and its great opportunity for export.

As such, in favor of the Council of Ministers on Wednesday, July 31, 2019, the Government of Benin has decided to transmit to parliamentarians, for authorization of ratification, the loan agreement signed with the African Development Fund as part of the financing. of the Project Supporting the Development of the Cashew Nut and Agricultural Entrepreneurship (PADEFA-ENA). It is already known that this project once in its operational phase will promote the development of agricultural entrepreneurship, the sustainable increase of the incomes of actors of the cashew nut sector as well as the noticeable improvement of the productivity.

Under the project, nearly 2,000 hectares of plantations and 30,000 producers or service providers will be impacted in the communes of the departments of Donga, Collines, Borgou and Zou.
