At the end of its weekly meeting on Wednesday 31 July, the Council of Ministers announced the mobilization of more than 5.6 billion CFA francs for the project to support the development of the cashew nut sector and agricultural entrepreneurship (Padefa -ena). This is the result of the loan agreement signed between Benin and the African Development Fund as part of the financing of the project.

"Contribute to poverty reduction through improved food and nutrition security". This is the objective of the project to support the development of the cashew nut sector and agricultural entrepreneurship (Padefa-Ena), which now benefits from a financing of 5 671 001 680 F CFA allocated by the African Development Fund.
According to the minutes of the Council of Ministers last, Padefa-Ena targets 16 municipalities (including Savalou, Dassa-Zoumè, Glazoué and Djidja) in four departments of Central and North Benin. This project has the advantage of promoting the development of agricultural entrepreneurship, the sustainable increase of the incomes of the cashew industry players, not to mention the noticeable improvement in productivity. In concrete terms, nearly 20,000 hectares of plantations and 30,000 producers and service providers will benefit from the project.
According to the Council of Ministers, this loan agreement signed between Benin and the Fund has been transmitted to Parliament for authorization of ratification. The ministers in charge of this file have been instructed to carry out the appropriate procedures to obtain the requested authorization for the start of the project's activities.
